5 Tried-and-Tested Ways to Make Your Old Motorcycle Feel New

Daniel Roberts

Once upon a time, your old trusty motorbike could carry you from one state line to the other without a hitch in the ride. But lately, you’re starting to feel like the old dog might be near its end days. Or at least, it looks like it.

Things aren’t functioning well and that sleek vintage motorbike you saw online is tempting you more by the day.

But the truth is you don’t need to spend a small fortune to reclaim that thrill of blazing down the road on a gorgeous bike.

Here are some ways you can bring new life into your old motorbike and bring back its glory!

5 Ways of Giving Your Motorcycle a Makeover

1. Replace that Rubber

The average age of a bike tire is around 3700 miles. After that, those small cuts and nicks start taking their toll on the rubber. Beyond the wear and tear, your tires will also become harder as time goes. It’s only fitting that you replace them before they reach that stage. A new set of tires is a much-needed upgrade for motorcycles.

2. Get Lighter Wheels

You might come across this issue if you have a newer model.

Often, companies skimp out on better quality wheels. They end up using heavy wheels, which your fancy suspension setup isn’t able to keep up with.

Swap them for ultra-light wheels from a workshop that offers bike tune-ups and maintenance services. You’ll see a notable difference from the get-go.

3. Adjustable Suspension

Have a professional add an adjustable suspension to your motorcycle’s set up.

Being able to regulate your bike’s damping and compression settings will allow your bike to respond to your input effectively, because it will be tailored to your movement.

Choose a good suspension setup from a reliable brand. If you don’t know which option is right for you, ask the professional to recommend one.

4. Add Some Cosmetic Touches

Who doesn’t like a nice, glossy shiny styling on their bike? Even if you’re not in the market to give your two-wheeler that makeover, there’s no reason why you can’t splash just a bit on some small touches, like flash rear sets, or a carbon mudguard.

If you’re all for it, ask the professional helping you about any replacement body kits that can be used.

5. Pay Attention the Little Things

The grips, control cables, pivot points – everything needs a bit of lubrication now and then. Swap the footrests for a new pair; change the gear change rubbers and the pivots.

Feel that handlebar grip and the smooth controls. These changes will make you feel like you’re sitting on a new bike, simply because everything will run smooth.
